Orange Liquor Ice Cream

My mom recently had a date with her boyfriend and he ordered this Orange Liquor Ice Cream as his dessert while my mom also ordered an ice cream without a liquor in it. I’m actually quite curious about this kind of ice cream. I might try it one of this days.  How about you? Have you tried an ice cream with liquor?

Round Fruits for New Year

We Filipinos have many beliefs and traditions for every occasion, such as making use of round shaped fruits this New Year to bring us good luck and fortune. Being influenced by Chinese, it is the idea of letting go of bad luck and bad spirits as it ushers good luck for the coming new year. As early as December, we could see many fruit vendors who already set up their stalls in a more convenient location particularly at the sidewalk so that people can get  an easier access to buy some round fruits.

I already bought and stored several fruits here but I know I wouldn’t be able to display it to our dining table because I have a little but huge eater and lover of fruits here.  ^_^
Happy a Fruitful and Bountiful New Year Everyone!

So, to all my beloved followers and friends, I hope you could also add these newly adopted blog of mine in your blog list, Table For Five, with url www.foodandculture.info. I can’t think of a new name for this blog this time, but whatever it is, I hope you could also follow and support this blog.

Eating Heartily but Consciously

I’m sure all of us had a sumptuous dinner after having our Noche Buena and I know there are still lots of foods left from our fridge. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas therefore doesn’t produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a pleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then eat yourself into a resolution to take off a few extra pounds if you can smartly avoid it?

Well, believe it or not but I actually applied it. I am on a diet right now despite of all those tempting yummy foods we have. We still have so many left over foods here . Ive been so conscious about my weight lately and I don’t like to look like a barrel anymore since I find it hard to wear my clothes and I’m so sick and tired of  hearing all those negative compliments from people who knew me when I was still skinny chick. lol! I knew that one of the reasons why I gained a lot of weight is because of overindulgence on foods that’s why I am now controlling myself.

At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of the selections can be sampled. My advise is that if you really want to try everything, then do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is true for our holiday meals. One big difference is that the food served during meal time will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely, one can always say truthfully that the stomach is full and I know and I believe that makes eating heartily but consciously.
