Reviving Back Our I-Cafe Operators Group

I was invited to attend an i-Cafe event which was sponsored by Microsoft a few days ago. As an i-Cafe operator and as a member of the ICON CDO group, I am quite excited to attend and to see my fellow i-Cafe owners. It’s been a awhile that our group wasn’t able to hold meetings and other business events. We just communicate through conference calls online and through chat.

It is now time to revive our group and to invite and gather new i-Cafe owners here in our city. This would help them enlighten more about the I-cafe program as well as the privileges and  benefits that they could get when they join our group.

Photocopying Business

My hubby recently discussed about photocopying as business. He actually wanted to try out photocopying as part of our additional income. I think its still a viable and profitable business there are walk in customers who are asking as if we do have a photocopy or xerox machine.

I do believe that putting up this kind of business is good because it allows to have copies of written works which most us do not have money for those works. I just have to try putting up cheap rates. Thanked God that our business establishment is just near from the school and I do believe that we can make a good business in it.

Wanted: Tokay Gecko

A fellow blogger friend of mine was actually looking for Tokay Gecko’s that weighs above 350 grams. She wanted to buy it although she did not reveal the price yet but she said that its a big amount of money. She said that the more Tokay Gecko’s, the merrier the money will be.

I was totally curious about it so I did a research online and I was surprised when I found out that the current local market price for Tokay gecko above 300 grams is at least RM25,000. I had tried to convert it into US Dollar that’s around $ 8,249.79 or P 358,712 in Philippine Pesos. Whoa! What? is these really true?

According to The Malaysian Life blog, the catching and trading in Tokay geckos have become a lucrative side business due to its high market value. Residents in Malaysia have seen the gecko business grow into a cottage industry after news reports revealed that overseas buyers are willing to pay up to RM1 million for each reptile.While numerous gecko species are sold as pets at nominal prices, the highly prized specie in demand for its medicinal value is the Tokay gecko.

I just knew that Tokay geckos are in high demand because of the traditional medicine industry abroad  believed that the reptile’s tongue can cure AIDS. Some believe that its meat is also an aphrodisiac while its blood and bile suppresses tumors in cancer patients.

The photo above is real Tokay gecko captured by me and my mom. This gecko went inside our comfort room. Good thing it did not stick with me while I am sitting at the bowl. lol!

I showed this photo to my blogger friend and she said that this is what exactly she’s been looking for. Yay! If I only knew that this gecko would cost a lot of fortune, then I should have captured it. But to be honest, I am scared of capturing it.I have told my father in law about it since I have seen a lot of geckos from his garden. I just hope he could captured some of this reptiles.

Planning to Buy a Used Car?

We don’t have our own car but my father-in-law has a second hand multicab that we often used for our family outing. It was good at first but after a few months of continuous usage, it is also starting to show its wreck and bad condition until today. We already spent and wasted a lot of money just by repairing this car. This multicab has been our problem for several months now because even if it has already been repaired and overhauled, its still has a problem.

We already learned our lesson that’s why next time, if we are going to buy a used car, since we can’t afford to buy a new one this time, we need to do a research about it. We have to make sure to ask questions and get the maintenance records for the car. The first and best question to ask the owner is why they are selling their vehicle. And since we are not much of a car expert, it would be a good idea to ask help and advice from an expert mechanic who will do the test drive of the car by taking the car on the road and try to drive the car in different conditions as possible.

And if we were able to purchase it, it’s important that we should register our car and so we can drive it legally. We also need to have an auto insurance since insurance plays a large part in the process as well. And even before requesting an insurance quote, its also a good idea to understand all the benefits that is included in a  car insurance rates such as coverage, deductible and other miscellaneous factors.

Buying a previously used vehicle is really a big decision and its a daunting process where not all people would like to undertake. This is also not an easy situation to go into without the proper information. How Mobile Banking Benefits Me

I am amazed how mobile phone banking services provides for clients from rural banks nowadays. With the help of this new technology, it saves a tremendous cost to both the clients and banks alike. Here in the Philippines, there are a number of banks that supports mobile banking. Usually, these banks use SMS in conducting the transactions just like Banco de Oro that offers a mobile banking transactions through SMS to the numbers provided to them by the telecommunications companies. Aside from online banking, I am also using this service from BDO because I can request my bills payment, account status, and many more.

Telecommunication companies like Globe also offers mobile banking applications like G-CASH and other applications to allow its users to make transactions on the go. Banks under G-CASH are allowed to convert electronic money to actual money and actual money to electric money. I started selling items online since 2005 and I am already using G-CASH as one of my preferred payment method. I also used it when I want to purchase items online. I am truly satisfied with G-CASH service because of its fast, easy and hassle free transaction.

Mobile banking is indeed helpful as it brings banking within everyone’s reach especially during a situation where banks are not present and a transaction is needed to be done at that point of time.
