My Mom’s Work At The Airline Catering Provider

My mom started as an airport employee at Gate Gourmet which is the world’s largest independent airline catering and logistics provider of Swiss Air Lines (Swissair) in Zurich, Switzerland. She worked in that company for more than 10 years already and because of my mom’s hard work and dedication to the company, she has been promoted as one of the supervisor from the personnel department where she will be the one who will distribute the number of workers who will work for that certain time shifting.

Before she was one of the workers who will do the hand work of cleaning, distributing and arranging the things needed for the passenger of the plane and now she is the one who will command the workers to do the job. Actually, my mom’s job is not that easy. When she was one of the workers before, she has to work fast so she can finish it before the other plane will arrive. Swissair is an international airport so it is expected that there are lots of different planes who came from different country that’s why her job is like a total of 3 men where she has to work so fast.

Now that she’s one of the supervisors, her job was also a tough one because every time when some of the personnel are absent or on-leave, she has to work for the job and do the hand work. She’s also working over time that’s why she has been complaining on how stressful her work is. Some of the workers who are under her supervision are hard headed and some even envy her since most of the workers their are Swiss nationals and some are from other foreign European and Asian countries. They feel jealous of my mom’s higher position knowing that she is a Filipina and those Swiss workers are under her where she can command them to do the work assigned for them.

My mom actually wants to resign from her work but her big boss of the company doesn’t want her to quit from her job. They even raised her salary and gave her incentives and bonuses just to let her remain to work for the company. They knew how hard working and dedicated to her work my mom is that’s why we are thankful for the trust and support that the company had given to my mom.
