Ten Tips For Taking Amazing Family Photos

We’ve all tried to take the perfect family photo, only to have someone in the group look the other way or have the picture come out blurred or too dark. Even if you aren’t a professional photographer, you can learn how to take quality photos so you have memories of your family get-togethers. Here are 10 tips to create an amazing family photo.

1. Prepare In Advance

Don’t try to be spontaneous and hurriedly shoot a group shot because somebody is likely to move or look the other way. Spend a few minutes choosing a location, posing people and setting up your camera before taking photos.

2. Choose Your Background Wisely

Choose locations that have sufficient light and backgrounds that fit the mood. Opt for plain and simple backgrounds that don’t have distractions, such as other people. Choose outdoor locations away from buildings, especially windows.

3. Be On Your Subject’s Level

If you’re taking photos of children and pets, crouch down and get on their level. You should also get as close as you can, or use your zoom feature. Doing this will result in more details in the face, such as the eyes and smile.

4. Take Lots Of Photos

Professional photographers don’t take just one photo. They take multiple ones to increase their chances of getting the perfect shot. It’s easy to do this with a digital camera because if you don’t like the photos, you can easily delete them.

5. Try A Different Angle

If you have a small group of people in front of a tall structure, shoot at a vertical angle to change it up a bit. It can give a dramatic effect to some photos.

6. Move In Closer

Taking a photo from hundreds of feet away is not as dramatic as a close-up photo. Get in as close as you can and focus on capturing the details of your subjects’ faces.

7. Use The Flash

Using the flash when taking outdoor photos can make a big difference in the amount of lighting in your photos. When used on sunny days, it reduces dark shadows in your subject’s facial area. On cloudy days, the flash works to brighten faces and make them stand out. It also helps if you don’t take photos directly under the sun, as it will make the photos look washed out.

8. Get Help

If you are taking large group shots, it may be a good idea to get a friend or family member to help. An assistant can help pose people while you prepare your camera for the shot. An assistant can also be helpful at weddings or other events where you need group photos of specific people. The assistant can track down people and make sure that you get photos of everyone who is supposed to be photographed.

9. Use A Tripod

If you’re not known for steady hands, it can help stabilize your camera and prevent blurry photos. A tripod also helps you gain control of the photo, so you can spend time posing the group. You can set up the tripod ahead of time, adjust your camera’s settings and just press the button when you see a good group shot.

10. Be Creative

Try switching up the background a little, getting a different angle or even adding props, especially for kid photos. Just making a few changes can create memorable poses and excellent photos.

Following these tips will help you create memorable family photos that you will cherish for many years to come.

When Eyestrain Strikes

Aside from having a blurred vision, headache usually happens when eyestrain strikes in me. As much as Ive wanted to do my blog hopping and giving out some comment on friend’s posts, I can’t do it because it feels like my head is breaking! I just keep on massaging those little veins that connects from my head to my eyes until I feel asleep. This usually happens even if I just take a glance at my pc monitor for awhile without using my eyeglasses. It’s so painful and annoying at the same time.

But what can I do? I’m already having a computer vision syndrome just like any other people who used to spend several hours in front of a computer every day. So in order for me to alleviate this problem, I just need to wear my computer eyeglasses every time I face in front of my computer even if I just take a little glance on it.  Whoa! poor me. :(

Computer Vision Syndrome

It’s been awhile that Ive been experiencing this blurry vision. Gosh! I can’t clearly see those words from signage, billboards and stores every where I go specially those small words written on it. I can’t even clearly notice people’s face from afar. I had this embarrassing experience a few weeks ago when somebody was waving a hand on me from a distance and I thought she’s waving on somebody else but I just found out that it was me. It was my cousin and she got mad on me because I did not even bother to respond to her while she’s waving a hand. I told her that I can’t clearly see her and she was surprise to know that I am already having a blurry vision at this very young age.

Well, I can’t blame myself because I know this is Computer Vision Syndrome since I always spend several hours daily in front of my computer screen. I do have a computer eyeglasses which has a grade but I don’t use  it that much often. I’m also worried that my daughter will gonna break it since she always touch any thing that she’s curious with. Some friends of mine advised me to use a contact lens instead of eyeglasses. But I think its some kind of  a hassle thing to do where I always have to wear and remove it. Any advice that you could give me  my dear friends on what I’m gonna do to help cure this  blurry vision of mine?

Still Battling with Bottles and Potty Training

I just read Mommy Techa’s Totally Weaned from Bottle-feeding post and I am glad that her son was finally weaned from bottle feeding. In my case, I am still struggling on how I can get rid of letting my daughter stop drinking from feeding bottles. Sydelle just turned 3 years old last month and I had been advised several times that I should start to train her to drink using cups and glasses.

I am now starting to let her drink from her cups and I just hope that she will be able to do it.With regards to her potty training, she is now starting to make wee-wee on her potty. She will remove her diaper when she wants to wee-wee but the problem is she don’t like to make poo-poo on her potty. She’s just too “maarte” and she will tell me that her poo-poo is yucky and ew! that’s why she still prefers to make poo-poo on her diaper. Waaaaaaah!

Well, I just hope that sooner or later she will be able to discharge her feeding bottles and her potty. I know it still takes time, patience and determination. Any advice you could give me dear Mommies? I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!
