Balikbayan Boxes

Balikbayan boxes! who wouldn’t love receiving them. I just love receiving packages specially when I see my fave chocolates, clothes, shoes, bags and hot new stuffs.  I just love surprises and receiving a balikbayan box from my mom. ‘Balikbayan’ is a Filipino term which means return to homeland. It is usually referred to people who work and live overseas returning home in their country.

Balikbayan box is actually a box or a package containing goods from where the overseas worker came from. It traces its roots to the Filipino culture of sending items, such as food, clothing, perfume, soaps, and other sundry items to their families here in the Philippines.

Nowadays, balikbayan boxes are often shipped by international freight forwarders by air cargo or sea cargo. My mom usually send these packages through sea cargo and it takes three months before it arrive and delivered right at our doorstep.

Lost Toys, New Toys

My daughter has lots of toys because every time I go out to buy groceries, I always buy her some toys specially those kitchen toys since she loves cooking using those toys. Aside from that, she also have some imported toys which was given as a gift from her grandmom.

I myself love those toys cause its too cute and so lovely to look at. I even enjoyed playing with her yoyofactory Yo-yos, huggable stuff toys, kiddie make up set and many others. It is just too sad to know that all of these toys got flooded. None was left from her room which is full of toys. My daughter even cried when she found out that she has no toys anymore. Now I have to buy some new toys so she will not worry much about her lost toys.

Unique Prenup Photo

I was looking at my friend’s old photo in Facebook and really find this photo together with her hubby so lovely and so cute! This was their pre nuptial photo a year ago. Their love story is very interesting because my friend is a nurse while her fiancee who is now her husband is a doctor.

They worked in the same hospital and they eventually fell in love with each other in that place. I just love their prenup photo while they are both wearing nursing scrubs at the operation room in the hospital where they worked with. Isn’t that a unique pre wedding photo for such a unique couple?

Electricity Got Back

We waited for almost a month before our electricity got back. CEPALCO which is our city’s electric power and light company was also affected during the flood that hit our city a month ago. Their main lines, cables and post was severely damaged and it took them several weeks in fixing and repairing all the damaged electrical lines.

Our Barangay which is one of the affected barangay from typhoon Sendong is like a ghost town when we don’t have our electricity yet. But after a few weeks of waiting, CEPALCO advised us to go to their office and make a request to reconnect our line. We just have to make sure that our electric meter, wiring and outlet with switchplate covers are clean and dry.

The “IN” for Home Appliances Today

Have you noticed when you go window shopping at any appliance store or appliance retailer, you will see a lot of stainless steel appliances being displayed? It is actually “in” nowadays. Everything from refrigerators to stoves to dishwashers and even stainless steel undermount sinks comes in stainless steel finishes.

Why it became a popular finish for appliances in the home today? Well, its because  it has long been known to the commercial food industry. Stainless steel appliances have made the leap from commercial kitchens to our home kitchens for a number of reasons including appearance, durability and the ease of maintenance and cleaning.

Download Music and Videos

Thanked God after more than a month of patiently waiting, our internet connection from PLDT is back! Now I can update all my blogs, join Memes, do some blog hopping and join contests and giveaways online. Aside from this stuffs that I’m always doing online, one of the things that keeps me busy is that I’m also busy looking for some songs and videos on Youtube.

I am the worship leader of our church that’s why I have to look for some new Christian songs so we could practice it during our rehearsal time for our Sunday service. I have to download the certain song using the youtube downloader and convert it into mp3 and flv video as well. We use the mp3 format for our mp3 player while the flv video file for the netbook since there are live music videos that we want to see how the music band or artists performed their song.

The Fastest Car in the World?

My mom was invited from a birthday party of a friend where her boyfriend and his band played music while she was the photographer of the event. It was a very successful night, lot of foods, friendly and socialite people with black & mild cigars, nice music entertainment and lot of nice cars. As you can see from her photo above, she was inside the Lamborghini Diablo together with the youngest guest. Wow! what a nice and lovely car!

Did you know that this high performance mid engined sports car will run you about $240,000 which is truly much more than a lot of houses. According to Wikipedia, The 1991 Diablo was the fastest car in the world, straight off the production line. The prices of a Lamborghini Diablo varies depending on year, options and model. But I think any model will cost you a pretty penny!

Helpful in Monitoring the Heart

I’m not actually a huge fan of drama movies but my hubby loves it. Every time he saw a movie where the actor or the actress are struggling to survive in the intensive care unit where ecg machines are also being used, he always remember his mother. He was there when my mother in law is fighting for her  life. 

This  electrocardiogram machines is very helpful in monitoring and diagnose the heart activity of a patient. It was big help when my mother in law was still in the hospital. Its just too sad to know that a few days after she was admitted, she eventually died.

I do believe that motorcycling apparel can help motorcycle, scooter and riders reduced the effects of accidents.
