My hubby’s first guitar was electric. Based from his experience it is much easier to play an electric electric guitar because the action is better and its not so hard on your finger tips. I also find electric guitar with an Emg pick ups has a faster action as this also makes them a little easier to play the cords on. 

Hubby also likes to play electric guitar because he can play around with distortion and effects. Its a bit easier to play than acoustic guitars, but you usually have to have some kind of battery powered device or electricity to get the most out of them. Choosing a guitar that goes with the style of music that you enjoy listening to is a great way to pick out a guitar. If you pick a guitar that fits the style of music that you are in to, then you will probably practice guitar more and get better faster just like my hubby who enjoys playing in his electric guitar.
